| The original It’s Hip Hop, Baby! All Your Child’s Favorite DVD was created in 2006. Founder Candi Carter has a collection of songs she’d made up for her son Emerson who was 3 years old at the time. She called on friends and neighborhood children to shoot the first ever Hip Hop Baby DVD. Soul Children of Chicago [an internationally renown choir] took Candi’s made up songs and brought them to life. And a few weeks before the filming in a west side studio, we had rehearsals to help the children learn all the moves, steps and songs. We filmed the video in one day with lots of help from friends and volunteer production assistants. The children ranged in age from 3 to 8 years old. |
