Benefits Of “Its Hip Hop Baby!”

Every parent wants their child to have the competitive edge and
I?m always looking for ways to help parents do just that. After
watching ?It?s Hip hop baby!,? I?m confident this video will become
an important resource for parents everywhere. It?s a fun and
exciting way to help children learn key developmental concepts at an
early age.

Learning With Music and Rhyme

Music and rhyme are two of the most effective methods of
incorporating new ideas into the world of a child. This entire video
supports that style of learning. For example, as your child counts
along with The Hip Hop Kids in the ?Numbers? song ? the catchy music
automatically helps your child learn their numbers faster than they
would otherwise. Throughout the song, the children use their fingers
to count out each number. The use of hand gestures assists in the
development of hand-eye coordination. This video is a great way for
any child to master counting from one to ten. I always tell parents
that if you want your child to learn it – put it to music.

Learning Through Play

Children learn best through play. As a child expands their
horizons at play it naturally increases their vocabulary. In
addition, when children understand that learning is fun they are
hungry for more.

Balance, Coordination And Body Awareness

One of the most important aspects of early childhood development
is learning basic concepts like colors, the alphabet and (as I
mentioned above) numbers. ?It?s Hip Hop, Baby!? does a brilliant job
of helping children acquire these necessary skills. As your child
dances along with the Hip Hop Kids in the ?Head Shoulders Knees and
Toes? song, they develop balance, coordination, and body spatial
awareness. These are critical gross motor skills for children of all
ages.

Matching

As a pediatrician we often use a child?s ability to recognize
animals as a sign of appropriate development. In the ?Animal? song
children learn to associate the word with the actual animal and the
animal?s sound. This is important because it teaches children the
skill of ?matching? which is used repeatedly throughout early
elementary education.

Following Simple Directions

Following simple directions is a very important concept for a
child to master before they enter kindergarten. Basic instruction is
reinforced throughout this video. They use the fun game of ?Simon
Says? to encourage children to follow along.

Staying Active

I love this video because I believe it is going to inspire
children to move and increase their overall activity – which aids in
the development of strong bones and muscles. Once children learn
that movement is fun, they are more likely to stay active for the
remainder of their childhood and throughout adulthood.

The American Academy of pediatrics recommends that a preschooler
watch no more than two hours of quality television a day. ?It?s Hip
Hop, Baby!? is 22 minutes of programming I would recommend for any
child.
